I’m Jerrica Lin. I’m a full-time mom, have been active community member in Markham-Unionville for more than 20 years, and was previously a Project Manager in IT.  For the past 9 years, I have been volunteering at various public schools within the York Region District School Board (YRDSB). I have learned through my various positions how each school manages to operate and perform, and what’s most important to York Region families and the community.

From my YRDSB experiences I have met many new people, learned different ideas and concepts, helped students overcome adversity, and mediated issues between administration and parents. As a Co-Chair for school council, I learned the processes and procedures required to work together with YRDSB representatives, including: Superintendents, the Associate Director, and the Director of Education.  All of these experiences and knowledge helped shape how I would like to continue helping students, families, and the community by advocating on their behalf.

On a personal level, both of my children have attended YRDSB’s English and French Immersion programs.  

Education/Profession: Grew up in Canada and went through the public school system from Elementary through High School. Obtained two post-secondary degrees from the University of Manitoba. A former IT Project Manager in consulting and manufacturing.    

Fun Facts:  Aside from dedicating time to family and volunteering, I am an avid traveller, cosplay, and foodie. I love to support local performers and artists, and I am a proud mother of two cookie dough ice-cream eating children!
